Events & Fundraising

Please remember that we’re always open to fresh ideas to help raise money for our club and we encourage anyone with a bit of free time on their hands to volunteer to join the Darlington FC Fundraising Group - just visit the Fundraising Group’s Facebook page and leave a message, or contact Rob Duncan.

Our current/recent fundraising activities include:

  • We run the Darlington FC Fans Lottery, which has raised more than £30,000 for the Club since 2012;
  • We run the 50:50 match-day draw, which raised over £7,250 for the Club last season;
  • We run the match-day raffle, which raised more than £1,300 for the Club last season;
  • We have sponsored players kits from our subscriptions;
  • We created and manage the B2D Fund, which has raised over £23,690 so far and is funding available to help the Club’s move back to Darlington;
  • We have run a series of entertainment fundraising events over the year, the proceeds of which have gone into the B2D fund;
  • We run the ‘Come-on-Darlo’ Prediction League

We also welcome and support the efforts of individuals and other fan groups with their fundraising activities, such as the annual “Sponsor a Goal” scheme which has raised over £5000 for the Club over the last three seasons.

In addition to the above we also raise awareness of the football club in various ways, including:

  • An annual family fun day in the Market Square in September;
  • Producing and distributing posters advertising the Club’s fixtures in public places;
  • We developed the ‘Heading Home’ beer brand at the Darlington RUFC’s beer festival to help promote the ‘Heading Home’ campaign;
  • We further helped promote the ‘Heading Home’ campaign by distributing to all of the Darlington town centre pubs and independent retail outlets;
  • In collaboration with Trevor Sewel, we developed the ‘Darlo Coming Home’ CD single to help promote the ‘Heading Home’ campaign, which has had air time on national and local radio.

Another popular initiative was the provision of a point of contact for supporters on match days at the ‘Fans Table’ in the bar at Heritage Park which was particularly useful to the fans and the Football Club during the launch of the 500 Club and ‘Early Bird’ season tickets.

Most of our activities so far have largely been targeted at contributing to keeping the Football Club alive whilst the route back to Darlington was being worked on in the background. Now that the return to Darlington is looking very much like a reality, the focus of Darlington FC Supporters Group will have to change to one of helping the Football Club to grow organically and sustainably and in due course we will have to develop plans and strategies of how we expect to achieve the objects listed above.

The newly merged entity of Darlington FC Supporters Group is very much in its infancy and we are just finding our feet. So if you have any ideas of how you think we can move forward on this journey, we would love to hear from you. We can be contacted by email (see the contact page) or come and see us at the fans table – we fully intend to have a fans table at Blackwell Meadows.
